[Laredo, Tx, Friday February 16th] —Laredo Next Generation Rotary, together with City Commissioner Elect Daisy Perez, hosted a book and supply drive for the El Cenizo Library. Next Generation Rotary received over 8,000 books from Laredo residents, schools, and organizations such as Daybreak Rotary, Laredo Rotary, Gateway Rotary, Laredo Under Seven Flags Rotary, Girl Scouts of America and LULAC. International Bank of Commerce partnered with Next Generation Rotary to make a monetary donation which was used to purchase backpacks and school supplies for the children that frequent the library. Laredo College made a generous donation of 6,000 new books to be given away to the residents of
El Cenizo. The library and the children were presented with these donations at an event  held February 16, 2024 at Lamar Bruni Vergara El Cenizo Library. 
 
 
About the El Cenizo Library- The Lamar Bruni Vergara El Cenizo Library opened its doors on May 11, 2017. The library was funded by the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust and was completed through a collaboration with UISD, The County of Webb and the City of El Cenizo. The library is operated by the City of El Cenizo and serves approximately 100 students weekly Monday- Friday 2pm-7pm. It currently houses 3,614 books. It is funded by the City of El Cenizo’s fund and private and public donations made to the library.
